About The Weeknd
The Weeknd's real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, he is mostly known as The Weeknd. He was born in Tortano. Canada and raised in Scarborough, Canada. The Weeknd's parents came from Ethiopia. His mother worked several jobs, so he stayed with his grandmother most of the time because his father was never around. While growing up, he listened to variety of music like soul, quiet storm, hip hop, and more.
The Weeknd dropped out of high school at age 17 with a fellow crew member. His stage name was going to be 'The Weekend' with an 'e' but there was another band with that name so he went with The Weeknd.
"Left one weekend and never came home."
He started by uploading songs in YouTube and doing mixtapes. For example, songs like House of Ballons. Later, he released albums named Kissland and Trilogy.
